For $200 is a bit too much, but I also won't want a monitor with a dead pixel.
Any suggestions?

There are a couple of topics on this.
Have a look at this one.
What computer are you looking at? This depends on the company you're buying from and their policy on dead pixels.
Lots of companies check the notebook for visible dead pixels. So the chances of getting a visible dead pixel are pretty small and paying 200$ for the insurance is a big price for a small risk.
I think the no dead pixel insuraces are a waste of money. LCD manufacturing processes have been much improved over the years and the chances of getting a dead pixel are pretty small. Also remember that the 200$ insurance you pay for is usually only valid for the first 30 days.
Zero Dead Pixel Insurance, is it worth?
