i recently ordered dell d820 latitude with wuxga (1920x1200) screen and it came with a 512MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 120M TurboCache video card. after ordering it i read reviews and it said it was **** for gaming. i need to know if it will work fine for fps and action rpg games. if not what should i replace it with. i am running a intel core duo t2600 (2.16 ghz) 667 mhz and am not sure what motherboard but i want a graphics card that can produce high resolution graphics. help me out

specifically what games are you looking to run? if you're playing very new games, the gpu prolly won't perform very well, but it should handle older games alright. if i remember correctly the quadro line is more designed for 3d modelling than video gaming

As far as I know, the Quadro is soldered to the mainboard on the D820 (it certainly is on the D620). You won't be able to upgrade it without replacing the entire mainboard (and I don't think there's a more powerful GPU available for that notebook anyway).

If you want to play new games at reasonably high framerates with high quality settings, just replace the entire notebook with a Compal HEL80/HGL30 or Asus S96J/Z96J. They don't offer such high-resolution screens (1680x1050 maximum), but not much can be done about that.

I have no first-hand experience with Quaddro cards, but they are *not* optimized for games. They are for workstation use, and their performance in games doesn't come near "normal" graphics cards.

So basically, just get a notebook without Quaddro, and you should be fine.

You right, Quaddro card is good for CAD, or specific graphic design, not mainly use for gaming. Unfortunately, i cannot find out any brand and model have a Quadro mobile gpu for laptop.
