First off, what type of connections do you have. Second of all, what is your budget. Third, what games will you be running, and what type of improvement would you like? Four, do you have any prior knowledge of hard drives?

usb 2.0 and 1394 or is it i394,cheapest quality brand a top name would be good, wow and other mmo's and fps's.a high cache would be good, and hopeing for less hanging while new area's are loading and program's starting sooner i don't know much on this kind of thing but remmber a friend doing this on is desktop that he took to collage and brought home.also i thought that if there's a lot of thing on a hard drive it take's longer to find as them, longer to defrag and scan in 360(norton)

If you use an external USB or i394 harddrive for games it will be slower than your maindrive. You will need an eSATA connection to have good performance.

You'd better replace your main drive by a bigger and faster one. What harddrive do you have now?
    Seagate 7200.3 250GB is available for $87.

You will benefit from the latest generation 7200rpm drives. Consider upgrading.
