    hey guys,
I'm about to buy a lenovo X200Tablet but there is not touchpad on it and I have been using touchpads for many years that I think I'm not going to be very confortable without it.
if you opened already a laptop, you know that a touchpad is very thin and is theorically stickable where a touchpad is(when there is one on the laptop) but it's only theory.
is there any solution to get a touchpad on this type of laptop?
    I only found this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826152005

but it's way to thick to stick it on the place where is usually the touchpad.
and by any chance, does a multitouch touchpad exists?

I knew synaptics, but is there any "external touchpad" available on the market?

I don't think that is an after market solution :)

Any aftermarket solution is going to have an ugly wire running to a usb port or whatever.

If you want a similiar tablet PC with a touchpad, I suggest you look at the Dell XT2. It's got both a trackpoint and a touchpad, along with a 3 yr warranty and other bells and whistles. It's gonna be more expensive, but it might be worth it.

The other option is to give it a chance. It's not like you are trying to learn to type again.

the dell is not enough powerful for my use, I wanted to buy for the mutlti touch etc etc but it's too weak, the only choice left with LV CPU and touchscreen is the x200T, right?

WACOM does touchpads and touch-"tablets" for pen and finger (the bamboo series), perhaps that you could use?
ALPS is like Synaptics, but I dont know if they do that or if anyone does it, it is a strange request lol.

There is also the HP Elitebook Tablet...

The Dell has a touchscreen. Only a weaker video score.

I've never used one but it is an excellent choice from the reputation. It'll be just as much as the Dell.

hp are good but not touchscreen lol
fujitsu have great multitouch tablet but they are not low voltage, I need 6hours batterylife so the X200T+8cells battery is perfect, only pb=TOUCHPAD, despite this thing, it would be perfect

Yeah, the X200T is a good model.

I say give the trackpoint a try. It can't be worse than Calculus. And I had to take two semesters of that crap. Got A's though.

And you need it to pivot?
The T400s has a multitouch screen too BTW and it is larger and according to the reviews, the multitouch worked better on the T400s

yeah I take notes and read newspaper on the tablet.
howeever, it's crazy that the multi touch works better on a non-tablet! I think it's because there is only the touchscreen to manage, not the digitizer made to use the stylus. let's hope they will improve it.
all I hope is that the screen is not the same as the one on the hp2500...it was really hard to write on it.

I haven't heard this opinion yet. But then again, I haven't used the T400 yet either.

The trackpoints I find to be nice (I would trade my touch pad for one) but I also have an external mouse that I prefer over both (Logitech Nano VX) and that is nice and small and easier to carry than an an external touch pad.

no, I'm just looking a REGULAR touchpad, the ones that are on all the laptops but it has to be external to set it up on the "palm rest" zone. do you see what I mean?
I know it's a weird question but it must be useful for some of us

the second one is even better since it'smulti touch, apple style witha calculator.
    only problem: TOO THICK

    any idea?
(I'm sure at the end we will find the best touchpad)

Have you tried using the trackpoint? I vastly prefer those to touchpads, and even micro-mice (those damn things cramp my hand like crazy). IMO, only thing better than a trackpoint is a proper full size mouse.

I'm not seing myself carrying a trackpoint! :)
what I want to do is just be able to usea regular (thin and confortable)touchpad on the X200tablet.
the best external touchpad is 10mm thick, which is not very practical since Ican't leave the touchpad and close the laptop to avoid to all the time having to plug it, put it on the palm rest etc etc
do you see what mean? in fact I want to place a touchpad like on other laptops.

Oh I see what you mean.

Whether there is a practical solution to your situation is another issue.
