    Hello!

I`m really scared of buyin a new ac adapter again. Old one just started not to work like two weeks ago. I went to fix it but they asked me 80-100$ for doin it. So I just bought a new one - universal ac adapter for 60$.
It gets really hot. It`s not even pleasant to touch it. I guess it`s too hot. I guess my old one overheated too.

What is the best thing how to reduce ac adapers temperature?
What is the recommended temperature for ac adapters?

I've never encountered an AC adapter that was cool to touch. Seriously, from the 65W to the 120W i have available, all get ridiculously hot.

My original one from Toshiba gets very hot too, I mean unpleasantly to touch also, and I've been using it for few years and still running fine. I think fabarati is right, I've used many laptops, and all the adapters get pretty hot.

Adapters, in my experience, can get quite hot, to the point of being painful to touch for more than a few seconds. A lot of excess heat is put off by the conversion from AC to DC current, so it's not that unusual. If the laptop doesn't seem to be charging or you're getting power fluctuating so that it seems to flicker on and off, you might have a problem with the adapter. If you happen to keep losing adapters to overheating, you might have a short in the motherboard power supply.

How much watt has your current universal adapter?
How much watt had your original adapter which was included by your notebook?
Maybe your current AC-Adapter is under-engineered.

I have a 220watt power adaptor for my Voodoo, and it does not get very hot.
The thing is literally the size of a brick, so it has enough heatsinks in it to stay cool under full load from the processor and such.

I wouldnt worry about it. As said, they all get hot. When I had my VAIO about 3 years ago, mine was a brick and got so hot that i smelled burning plastic at times. My Last laptop, that i had for a year, a Toshiba- the power block was decent, it didnt get too too hot, you could still touch it easily without pain. Now, my HP one, is much smaller than ive ever seen. It stays cool actually most of the time (compared to others), but the temp. depends on the time of usage.
