i have an acer laptop that i would like to bump up the memory and hard drive. i currently have 512MB of RAM and a 60GB HD. i would like to go to a gig min of RAM and 100GB HD.

i was not able to find any info on Acer's website in regards to hardware upgrades??? anybody know of any links? i have read that seagate is the way to go for hard drives, how about RAM sticks? i'm not sure if i have 2 ram sticks or a single. nor am i certain of how many slots for ram are available for this laptop.

i am CDN and do most of my shopping at ncix, but am willing to go elsewhere.

    any suggestions are appreciated

    thanks

You have two slots for memory which are both likely full. Upgrading the hard drive is usually fairly easy just make sure you get the right connector. Sometimes the second memory slot can be located under the keyboard which makes things more difficult.

assuming you have DDR 533 ram, here is the ncix link to laptop ram

    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=105&subminorcatid=55

if you have other DDR ram look to the left and select ram that has "SODIMM" as those are for laptops

most computer stores like to say that their computers have 512 ram which is actually 2x256mb ram cause it's cheaper for them that way

just remember that if you have different ram timing, then the laptop would clock both at the same fsb so the best thing for you is to either get the same timing ram or if your laptop mobo supports 667 fsb ram, upgrade both slots to 667.

here is the link to 2.5 inch mobile hard drives

    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=1044

remember that that catagory includes external hard drives too so you gotta check if its internal or external HDs

EDIT: ncix is a great store, remember to search around and try to get a price match :)
