First, consider that the capacity also plays a role in how high the performance is (the higher the capacity, the better the performance).

Second, OCZ is definitely on the bottom of the list (bye bye Vertex 2) unless you're into beta testing products/firmware and don't really have anything important to do with your system.

Finally, SF is right there with OCZ (in my books, bye bye Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe) unless you just want to have bragging rights about (one of) the fastest benchmarked SSD drives - while they're working at full/proper speed (when life time write throttling kicks in (LTWT), you'll be operating at below HDD speeds (for writes).

The best O/S SSD is definitely not one of those choices - Intel is still the best bet (Series 320, 160GB and larger, Intel 510 Series 250GB model).

    Good luck.

+1 to avoid Sandforce at all costs. Sandforce controllers are released and the consumer gets to beta-test them and spend vastly more time dealing with their issues than actually using them.

For a good SSD, Intel and Crucial are the best, Samsung is very good as well. You appear to be looking for a SATA 2 model, I'd say the Intel 320 as tiller mentions, or the Samsung 470 are your best choices.

In real-life usage, there is little noticable difference between SSDs of the same generation (i.e. the two I mention will perform similarly, you won't see a difference without precision benchtesting). Sandforce drives actually can be lower in performance too owing to their reliance on compressible data for speed.

I have a Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 240GB and I am very happy with it. It is in my work laptop and I never had any issue with it.
