Ok this was happening even before the xp was installed, my cd drive will read disks, but after a point it just stops and wont continue unless u restart and sometimes that doesnt even help at all. for instance i was trying to install a game and after it got past 2nd disk, little way through it just stopped readin the disk and i tried to just take out disk, and than put it back in, it started reading again buttttttt nothing happens and doesn't show the drive in my computer anymore. but ya this is reallllllllly bothering me, moe than the whole beep problem which by the way u guys helped fix thank you :D.

Drivers are always a good place to start when strange things happen. Uninstall what you have and new from the site I gave if they worked install new.

So are you good on all the other stuff?

I think acer drivers right now are for Vista, maybe that is why you are having problems

Actually, i was only saying this because in our country you can buy a laptop without an OS for cheaper price. Acer is a popular brand in our country so some of my classmates have bought the cheaper versions and installed xp.

They were also having hard times when it comes to finding xp drivers for acer.

But also thanks to you I can also tell them to go to that site you mentioned

so far everything seems to be working, I also found that the acer site does have some of the xp drivers that will work, but not all of them. The cd drive is working on and off at this point, but im able to do what I need to for school and gamining with it so i'm not complaining. Thanks alot power u got my video, cd, audio and other drivers :D ima always come to this site, you have been a great help :D. :)
