No, it doesn't use a massive amount of power, but bettery life depends mainly on other components, as well as the processor. If you are looking for a notebook with low battery life, then generally, smaller screen size notebooks give the most battery life. Also, Core 2 Duo processors are very good in terms of battery life, and they also perform faster than the Turion X2.

besides screen size, HDD access frequency and what\how many applications will be running whilst on battery power wil also greatly affect longevity.

as above, the Turion 64x2 uses little battery power - but the Core 2 Duo uses less.

    Core 2 uses 31W
    The Turion 64 X2 uses 35W

But, on Idle(word proccessing) Turions use less power than a Celeron M.

my computer on batterys with the proccessor on idle @ 800mhz screen brightness on 100% wifi and bluetooth i can almost get 4 hours, and uses 30W according to mobile meter (total including proccessor) the meand
    Proccessor + sreen + gpu(minimal use) + wifi + bluetooth + Harddrive...etc = 30W
    not to bad, really

a core 2/cd will do better under load, sorry i don't have 'time' etc for a core 2 under load.

    All depends on your use.

Last time I checked core duo used 31w, core 2 duo 34w and turion x2 either uses 35w or 25w TDP (for the low power versions).

But in terms of performance/watt the core2duo is the king at the moment.

The 12 cell battery should give you ~4.5+hrs of battery life for average use(wifi on, low brightness). You might get more depending on how/what you use the laptop for. Do remember though that the 12 cell battery will stick out an inch or o from beneath the laptop.

I hope you have looked at the review for the dv6000z...

    ok
    if i go with the dv6000t with Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T2050 (1.60 GHz/2MB L2Cache) and drop the tv tuner & go with Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 - Core
I can get that for $982

does anyone use a tv tuner? worth it?
how about the graphics? I doubt I will paly much for games
    nay opinions?
    thanks

Well if the amd dual core system is over $200 cheaper I would go for that. Also the Geforce 6150 is better than the intel 950 graphics.

No,not even close(even amongst laptop processors)...there are Low voltage & ultra low voltage Core Duo's/Solo's/Celeron/Pentium M's. Then there is also the Via C7M...

The GMA 950 is pretty poor for gaming, the 6150 Go is slightly better. Between the 2, the 6150 offers better performance. But if you arent into gaming then either would do just fine to run Windows.
