well they are both pretty bad no offense

the celeron beign 1.86ghz with 1mb cache compared to the amd being 2ghz with 256k cache

i woudl get the celeron, intel in general has been better at processors for a while compared to amd (i remember the good days of athlon XP, so good compared to the Pentium 4)

I would choose Intel, but what about the Pentium Dualcore? Would it explode your budget? It is a tad better, as it is at least a dualcore CPU with 1Mb cache.

hmm. my celeron M 1.5ghz had 2mb cache and that was two years ago...........

I always tell people to skip these because they are really not worth the savings. You are getting something much much worse in performance than current dual cores for not much less initial investment. work an extra couple of days and you'll have the extra 200 bucks needed to buy a dual core

Whichever you do get, I'd try to get a machine with XP which will run much better. Performance wise I suspect they will be very similar, but Celerons can't downclock so they tend to be a bit more noisy since they run at full speed all the time in my experience.
