    Hi there,

I'm helpping a friend fix his laptop. the laptop is an Acer TravelMate 2355 and it needs a motherboard replacement (after an accident with spitting milk).

The laptop's mobo uses am intel 855 chipset, and it's reference number is LB.T7102.001. or LB.T7102.001.

After three weeks of research I found that the Acer TravelMate 290 uses a similar motherboard to the one on my friends laptop. When I say similar I mean their pictures look the same. The ref number for the travelMate 290 motherboard is MB.T3502.001.
The Acer travelMate 290D and Extensa 2900 use also a mother board that looks like the acer travelMate 2355. Their motherboard ref is LB.T4402.001. The main difference between this last mobo and the previous one (the TM290 and the TM2355) is it has a removable graphics card.

    Here are my questions:
1- Is their any other laptop (acer or not) that share the same mother board? and what's the reference number used in this case?

2- Is their any other mobo that hs the same design as the acer travelmate 2355 one but uses an intel 915 chips? (this will be fantastic as I will be able to pin mod a pentium m 725 on it)

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    P.S.
I emailled Acer and they were/are helpless. Instead of telling me what are the compatible mobos, they said they'll be more than happy to fix the laptop for 1.5 to 2.5 times the present price of the laptop if it was in working order. They said repair cost is £400 to £700... that money could by a Core2Duo with a didicated graphics!!!

I've been on a quest to find a mboard as well...
and I can tell you it's tough.
you can forget about buying a new one,... since they cost 400-500$.
try searching e-bay, and I can suggest motherboard repair sites if the mbo isnt completely wasted.

now I havent had experience with any of these, so I dont know how reliable they are, but I'm just saying thats a possible solution.
there's plenty of those on google, and I'll probably resort to it unless I find my uniwill M/board P71EN0...

    Thanks for getting back.

There is a TravelMate 290 laptop base for sell. the owner says that before he took the screen apart that the screen was blinking from time to time. Is this a sign of a faulty mobo? or can I bid on it?

    Thanks

That I can't say, it's either a faulty mobo or faulty LCD connection.

    meaning forget about it (thanks)

I just found that the travelmate 4050 seems to have the same mobo as the travelmate 2355, but again the ref number is different LB.T7002-001

So if anyone encounter a similar looking mobo from another Acer laptop, please let me know.

anotherthing, what is the problem when the screen displays a line form one eage to the other? is it a faulty mobo too?

    Have a nice weekend.

the blinking issue is most likely related to the screen connectors, and not the motherboard it self.
MBO either works or it doesnt. there's no "almost working".

1- So the blinking is from a faulty display/inverter cable, isn't it?

2- How about vertical line that sometimes appear down the screen? is it a sign of a faulty GPU?

    Thank you all.

it doesnt look like a motherboard/graphic card problem to me.
    more likely a LCD problem.
if it comes and goes, than it's probably a dirty/lose connection somewhere.

    and if it's permanent?

p.s. this is about a different screen than the blinking one.

well, I still think that some connection somewhere is damaged, and it's most likely monitor related (not mboard, or graphic card).

I think there are people here that are much more qualified to talk about this than me, so try making a seperate thread for the LCDs than this Mbo thread.

    (and the blinking issue),
depending on what type of blinking could be
    a faulty connection
or a problem with the LCD backlit
