The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    to sound cards in laptops? from best to worst? i looked around and didn't see much. is there a list like the graphic cards? thanks.

    The advice in the thread below is pretty comprehensive in that it covers most of the options. There doesn't really seem to be a "best" list anywhere. This thread covers everything I've found anywhere else. I don't believe the internal sound cards are upgradeable (on most machines anyway) and I don't think there's much yet in express slot audio cards.

    I recomend the thread mentioned above simply because
    I created it, but also because it's probably the most extensive place of info on soundcards on NBR that I've come across.
