lg is asking me to send in my dell 1730 display after explaining to the the banding and tearing and aweful saturation these all have and ive had 7 and they are all the same. they said they can put a older firmware on it to possibly remove these effects since my older version of the same model did not show these effects,, should i chance sending it in? im worried about it coming back with any issues like dead pixels or anything else.. ive never heard of anything like that before on a notebook panel??

Surely they are talking rubbish! Ok there may be LCD firmware but surely if there is they should be able send you a file so you could update yourself.

I did a lot of search about LCD panels to sort out some compatiblity issues I had on a Dell laptop after screen upgrade and never ever came across an LCD firmware.

The only thing that I can say for sure is screen panel have various revisions during their life time.
