    are 64 bit programs designed specifically for p4 em64t or Athlon 64 processors?

    Here is quote from an interview on the 64 bit patch for halflife 2

    "Bringing the Source technology to the AMD64 processor platform is an important step in the evolution of our game content and tools,"

    So does this mean that the patch will not work for those of us with p4 em64t processors?

    The patch will work for any 64-bit processor, including the P4 em64t you mentioned.
    I think Gabe was referring to 64-bit processors in general rather than just the AMD 64.

    Intel basically borrowed EM64T from AMD64, so they are compatible.
