hello,
i replaced the touch pad piece on my asus EeePC 1015PE seashell cannot reconnect keyboard, and to my horror cannot reconnect keyboard although the mouse works.
i notice that the little black plastic piece that used to hold the keyboard connector in place is now broken, but shouldn't i still b able to gget a signal of some sort?

If you have torn the connection between the keyboard and the motherboard, you're pretty much SOL. Taping the two pieces back together will unlikely work, so your best bet now would be probably to use an external keyboard, or use operating system's virtual keyboard (though this would be very difficult to use regularly).

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
If you broke the ribbon cable like Kuroi-Tsubasa is suggesting, you probably need to either find a way to replace it or replace the keyboard. What I'm reading is that the piece of plastic that locks the cable into its connector is broken. Those ribbon cable connections are very finicky - if you've broken that piece, a little research should probably reveal its name and suggest how you might get a replacement. It's going to be very difficult to maintain a solid connection without that little locking piece. Then again, I've thought that I've broken those pieces before but always had success getting them to work, so it might just be a matter of fiddling around with it a lot. Although it's not the wisest method, I've actually removed the keyboard and fiddled with the connector while machines were running in the past - it's a lot easier than doing things properly because you can pinpoint the point at which it's properly connected, but it's also easier to fry something doing it this way, so be forewarned.

I think the flex cable is broken just like what others are suggesting. With this I think if you are not well experienced about fixing this kind of things, bringing it to a professional or service center would be the best decision to make. However if you are confident that you could replace it on your own then try to find out the exact name.number of that flex cable and try to get a replacement. This sounds a little too delicate to do though. Best of luck!
