Ok, I don't know if I'm the first to do it and I wasn't sure if it was going to work with all the FSB issues seen with the b130. I did the pinmod on the B120 increasing the FSB from 100 to 133MHz. Not only did this increase the processor speed of the Celeron 360 1.4GHz to 1.86GHz but now the memory also runs at 533 (as originally advertised)

The system is stable and noticibly faster. Of course I replaced the thermal compound with AS5 while I was in there to ensure the coolest system possible. My SuperPi time is now 1:57 vs. my previous 1.4GHz best of 2:22 for 2M digits.

So, this chipset DOES support 533MHz FSB but you have to pinmod your CPU to get it. Bizzare

BTW, I'm guessing that if you do the pin mod when installing a 533 FSB processor it will be recognized correctly and run @533fsb instead of 400...of course someone with a B120/B130 and a 533fsb processor would need to verify this. (I'd do it if I had a processor handy)

Nope, you don't have to do anything but disable all of your overclocking software. Then you flip er over, remove all cpu coverings, remove the cpu. now you can see your 478/9 pin socket. Cut a short strand (approx .5 cm or 1/4")of the thinnest wire you can find. Using a set of tweezers grab about 3/8ths of the wire, and bend the rest of the wire over, to make a "U" shape. Drop it into the 15th and 16th hole 3 rows down (the upper left notch being 1,1). Re-install processor, make sure it goes in fairly easily. Don't force the processor you don't want to bend any pins or worse, it should go in with gentle pressure. If it won't go in you need thinner wire or you have a a bent pin. Re-apply thermal paste and put everything back together the way it was if you don't have thermal paste, its not completely necessary, but it will help keep it cooler.

boot er up, and see what smokes, j/k. You will probably need a better cpu fan controller so download "I8kfangui" Its FREE and is made especially for dell laptops!!!

go to http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html to get the shizz

    Hi Guy's,

Notebook nub here. My brother has a b120 celery and I was wonder if I can upgrade the processor with pentium M? I can get a M-2.0 oem for $26 at starmicro.

    Thanks in advance,
