ooh, that will be a hard question. You would have to email Dell and alienware to see what backlit keyboards their are. I know Arima sells them, and Dell has them on teh XPS1730. You would need a picture of the keybaord port on the backlit ones and compare it to the one you have in your notebook. If they match, you may be able to get a backlit one, but most likely they will not match up.
The old Mitac M8355 had tanslucent/clear keys on the keyboard, and it is really easy to backlight. I am not aware of any other translucent or backlit keyboards. It will be a longshot, but it may be very possible.

If you can get your hands on a M8355 keyboard, you can rip all of the clear keys off and somehow pray that the clips are the same, and install the clear keys onto your notebook, and then try installing led's from their.

my laptop, the mitac minote M8355, is my Voodoo M855, so dont worry they are the same thing.
The keyboard is made by Zippy, and you can see the keyboard and its information here:

    I hope these images help,
the keys look like they are tinted black, but they are not, the base of the keyboard is black, so you are jsut seeing through to the black shell of the keyboard
most keyboards use the same latch system, so if you can get your hands on the same keyboard I have, you have the possibility to connect these clear keys to the keyboard you have. Its a lot of work, but it may work.

you can try contacting them, but if they do not have it, you should also try other Mitac reseller's, like Falcon Northwest, and a few others.
The keyboard is being used on that laptop, and its not for sale, but hopefully it will help you get closer to your goal.

Zippy manufacturers the keyboard, so maybe checking out their website or contacting them may give you a more fruitful response.
