    Hi

Is it illegal to use the recovery media Win7 that came with my laptop to install win7 onto my SSD and then completely wipe all data from my original HDD which I plan to use as an external drive using an external enclosure?

I read the thread about using this ISO file to move the product key but right now I don't have any blank DVD's and doing it with the recovery media seems to be a simpler solution...

From what you are asking you are just installing the SSD to your laptop as an upgrade. That is replacing your original existing HDD. That not only makes it legal but the practical solution, read as the intent, of the recovery media to restore your original system in the even of HDD failure or upgrade.

no it isn't... just because u use a differnt drive doesn't mean u can't use same Windwos 7... just make a recovery dvd and remove ur old drive... put in the SSD and boot from CD drive and install windows 7 using the DVD's.. no problem at all..
