I have an ocz diy 17in laptop that just doesn't have the cooling capabilities that the q9100 and gt130m need, idle temps are around 60* with everything done properly...
that being said, I was hoping to find a barbones kit on ebay that would allow me to reuse most/all of the parts I currently have, while still having a powerful dedicated vid card. It needs to have a nvidia video card that is equal or better than my 130m, screen size doesn't matter, but it needs to be under $6-700(without cpu+ram+etc)
what I have
q9100
hyperx pc8500 DDR3
SATA dvdrw
SATA 64gb ssd
SATA 320gb hdd

-
Clevo M570TU M860TU M980NU
-
google/ebay search at work comes up with nothing... I get screens/ram/HDDs but no laptops...
EDIT: I'm most interested in the M860TU model, because of the 15in size... -
anyone??????
-
It appears to have been discontinued.

I'm building an HP 8530w...
Do you actually have a MXM 2.1 gt 130m card? If so, you could probably just flash it to fx 770m and use it in the 8530w. Otherwise, I have some fx 770m and a 3650 ddr3.
I don't know if the temps would be any better though. I'd have to get it up and running first.
Maybe this gx720 is your best option: MSI GX720 (MS-E7235) 17" Turbo Drive Gaming Laptop Nvidia 130-GT 512MB + Turbo Cache P7350 2.0 Ghz 4 gig 320 gig HD MS-1722 -
the 130m is integrated...

No it is not.
The GX720 has an MXM slot and the 130m is a dedicated GPU.
Like this:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=130m+mxm&_sacat=See-All-Categories
(but the MXM slot in the GX720 is MXM 2.1 Type III).
Too bad the GX720 only has one fan, so you might not find the cooling to be so great...
And the ram is DDR2 in the GX720. -
by integrated I meant that it is soldered to the mobo in my laptop...

sorry misread..

There is a version of the gx720 someone released with quad core, also the better heatsink for ATI 4850 can be found and purchased. Perhaps the cooling will be good enough.
Any interested in the HP 8530w? I know, its ddr2 as well... -
little bit, it depends on price...
I was relay hoping for something with a more powerful GPU, and MXM cards are$$$$ -

I was thinking of picking this up... would the stock HS+fan be able to keep a q9100 under 50* at idle(as in siting doing nothing)?? -

Also, someone else I was going to sell another laptop to said they were going to buy that instead. lol
MXM cards don't have to be expensive... I know, the link in my sig is dead but search 2700m on Ebay. Pretty darn good card for the price.
OH wait, heres something else... I was seriously considering it. Really good deal. Acer Aspire 8735G Intel Core2 Duo 2.2GHz 4GB 500GB 18.4 - eBay (item 140481516320 end time Jan-21-11 08:52:49 PST)
I don't know about the cooling but this one has a serious upgrade path - a gtx 260m MXM 3.0 at least will probably work. And without any soldering to make space for type B like on the 7738g -
FYI the link in your sig isn't working...
that laptop is nice, but its $$$$, and comes with all the crap I don't need...
this is my current cooling setup...
barebones laptop for q9100+ddr3 ram?
