Hi everyone!
I just got a new laptop and the battery on this one is MUCH lighter than my old notebook. I'm guessing these kinds of battery are the new standard, mine is long and thin. My OLD battery was like a brick, feels like one and is shaped like one.
My question is, on my old battery I always leave the battery inside my notebook. Even when I have the power cord plugged in and the battery is done charging I still leave it in. After a while though the battery's life was less than 5min (I guess it overcharged or fried over time).
Will these new notebook batteries behave the same way? If I want it to last long should I take out the battery when I'm not using?
Thanks!

Most modern notebooks stop charging a battery once it reaches 100% charge and then do not start the recharge again until the battery charge level drops by several percent.
As a result they avoid either continuous charging or lots of little top-up charges, both of which can reduce the battery life. You can check what your you notebook does by looking at the battery charge level.

Well the light goes off when it's done charging.
But the same happened with my old one also.... -
The light might change colour.
Mine goes from amber to blue when fully charged. -
Right... I know when it's fully charge....
But does leaving it inside the laptop hurt the battery even when fully charged? -
YES!!!!!!!! Heat is the enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet..I just found out that my 13 month old 6 cell is not covered under extended warranty. Another reason not to buy a second battery before it's time; unless you just gota have the extended run time. -

Depends on your usage / charge cycles and build quality..it can be all over the map.
I just bought a 9 cell with Sanyo cells for $60, made in Japan to replace my 6 cell.
