hi all, new here![]()
first of all i'm sorry if i posted in a wrong board
i had this notebook (presario r3200 series) for almost 5 years and never had any problem with it.
just recently i got this problem -> notebook runs fine with the charger plug in, but when i unplug it will shutdown itself![]()
other thing that i notice is my battery full charge only at 68%, notebook hardware control shows that it has battery wear at 32%
is it normal that it suddenly drop to 68%? (last week i think it still at 98%)
any idea what can be the problem? im guessing there is something wrong with the board

How old is the battery? If it is a lithium ion battery (which it most likley is) and it is five years old, it may be losing its charge because of the number of charge/discharge cycles. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li-Ion

If the laptop is 5 years old that is very normal. I had an old Toshiba that was like that. It got around 1.5hrs of battery life. Then within a month it was down to 60 seconds. A week later.... it wouldn't hold a charge at all. Notebook batteries were never designed to take 5 years of use. Notebook batteries do have a typical number of cycles they can take before losing charge. I’d say you were lucky that the battery lasted 5 years

5 years is .. incredible if you want another opinion !
If you still want a good battery, since it is 5 years old, it could be found on eBay for a couple of bucks ! -
mmm i'm not sure if the battery is dead or no, with the ac plugged in and battery too, the battery still showing 68%
if the battery is dead shouldnt the power meter showing the battery "not present" or "total battery power remaining 0%?
i heard that we can ressurect dead battery by putting in it the freezer for some time, anyone ever try it? -
That battery trick is just that a trick its not true and doesn't work. As for me I have two batteries both four years old (made by sony) and still going strong.
probably dead. -
A battery doesn't suddenly die, it dies slowly
battery dead?
