This rig has an adapter that changes the 44 male pins on the 2.5" ide hard drive to a bayonet (slide in) connector.

I would like to hook up a 3.5" (either sata or ide) drive to this laptops hard drive connection.

I know a usb connection is possible, and I may try that if an adapter to this bayonet interface is not availabe. I have searched every where with 0 joy.
Maybe because I don't know its exact name.

    Am I trying the impossible?
