what do you think and is 800 speed in the ram any good .
-
This is what the Clevo says about the RAM for its M570RU model:
So buying the 800MHz is just going to be a waste of money because your notebook won't be able to utilize it at that frequency. It will be underclocked to 667 MHz. -

Corsair makes very good memory. I only use Corsair and Crucial, and have never had any problems.

While aData isn't necessarily top-of-the-line, it's by no means a BAD brand. -

I'd say anything with a known brand name and a lifetime warranty is fine. Laptop RAM is generally the same all around in my experience. As noted check the RAM DEALS thread - anything listed in there is good.
-
As long the brand is rather well known, I'd say its okay to use. I prefer Crucial, Corsair and Kingston RAM though. Not that the rest are bad, of course.
-
I see. The review from Newegg wasn't too bad. That is why I asked.
Does anyone here make sure to get the compatible RAM from the laptop manufacturer's recommendation? Or do you simply just go by the PCXXXX number? How important is the CAS latency timing? Is it very important? -
No, I never check the MFG recommendations other than speed (4200,5300...) CAS is very important. One reason why 4200 hangs with 5300 is the CAS/CL is proportional. What I am saying is the 5300 is about 20% faster than the 4200. But the 4200 with a CL 4 is about 20% faster than a 5300 CL 5. So they equal out in many ways. Yes I know that 5300 is faster and if I had the choice I would pick but I am trying to explain why sometimes it makes little difference. As far as what you can buy you really have little choice the RAM speeds operate at the CL they do (at least on notebooks) so no real decision to be made.

I second that.
But if you really want to single out a brand, Hynix is about as reputable and reliable as it gets. Many of the biggest notebook manufacturers often put Hynix modules in their products. Sometimes you will find that Hynix chips are used in a module sold by a different brand. -
I bought a 1GB DDR2 @ 667 MHz of Kingston Brand....
It is certainly reliable & inexpensive...
Hey guys btw what are these HyperX RAM's from Kingston ( http://www.kingston.com/hyperx/default.asp)
Is anything like this available for notebooks? -
where did you find the clevo M570RU online instead of the rebranded ones like Sager and Alienware have?
