    my hard disk is dying on my clevo d901c, it still boots in too win but a short while after the hd makes a clicking sound and it crashes. i can not load norton ghost on there too back it up and it crashes and clicks when i try to transffer files too hd.

    really want my files so looks like im gonna have to use some kind of data recovery service does anyone know the best/cheapest?? thanks greg

    first thing I would try is put the HDD in a ziplock bag, and then put it in the refridgerator for an hour or 2. then use an external USB enclosure to try and access it from another computer ... its cheap and works for me over 50% of the time.

    after that I can not say as I am not familiar with any UK based recovery companies.

    Sorry no you can't do that with a RAID. what you CAN try is to run your laptop COLD ontop of a couple freezer packs and a towel. sonetimes if you can keep a HDD COLD you can stop the clicking issues or the bearings from tightening up long enough to get your data off.

    tried that and no joy. its got to the state whwere it wont even boot now :( so shelling out is the only option... anyone know any companyys that are less expensive than others??
