So you just want more graphics performance?
If so, then download a good driver from nVidia.
I know in the XP drivers, the nVidia control panel would give you many options which you could change.
If you download drivers from laptopvideo2go, you can change these settings and hope that there is a setting, which forces the card to use more memory.
Maybe your graphics card cannot use more memory, because your system does not have a lot of memory.
The memory for your gpu is borrowed from the system memory, so the maximum amount of system memory the gpu can take is as much as is free for the system.
AKA, if you have 512 mb of memory, and you want a 512mb gpu, your graphics card has to borrow 384mb of memory from the system, which is quite a lot.
If you upgrade the memory to 1-2Gb than you will have enough memory for your graphcis card to borrow.
