alright...here is the problem. after i bought the laptop (see sig) i upgraded to vista ultimate x64 with all the right drivers after figuring out that i was missing the bluetooth driver. no upgrade from the original 2gb of memory that came with it and utorrent could run all night with no crash.
i upgraded shortly thereafter to 4gb of corsair valueram from newegg. memory timing was 5-5-5-12. i go to run utorrent (it can be the only program running minus the ones in the background) and it started blue screen of death crashing my computer every time i ran it. diagnosed this problem to no avail.
so i ordered ANOTHER 4gb kit from newegg only this time it was kingston. i installed it a couple of days ago. ran utorrent. it ran fine for about three hours and guess what? Blue screen of death. anybody have any ideas?
with the corsair ram installed

did you do a ram stable test or try to uninstall utorrent
-
ran memtest 86, no errors. no need to uninstall utorrent, computer doesnt crash if its installed, just if its running.
-
well then its utorrent... try a different torrent program
-
lol....tried everything you could think of. bitlord, azureus, utorrent...all gave me the same problem.
-
utorrent works fine for me and im using 4gb kingston ram.. are you on x64 sp1?
-
considering that it hasnt been released yet, no i am not using service pack one
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
im using vuze, vista sp1, x64, 4gb of g.skill, and runs fine maybe a bad hdd, try that or antivirus
-
....lets keep in mind that the entire time i've had this laptop i've used the same antivirus and the same hard drive. this only happened AFTER i upgraded to the 4 gb of ram. and yes, i did try taking one stick of ram out so that there was only 2gb in the system at a time and i still got the crashes
-
maybe its conflicting with vista ultimate?
-
didnt crash at all after i upgraded to vista ultimate 64 bit until after i upgraded to the 4 gb of memory.
-
Try the original RAM again, maybe?
-
i would if i could. but i sold it before the crashes started happening
-
That sucks. Have you monitored the RAM usage during the time?
-
it doesnt spike in ram usage, no.
-
bump de bump
-
wait for the service pack 1 release tommorrow.. Cross your fingers and hope it fixes it.
-
Have you installed the Vista update for 4gb memory?
