This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Think of bluetooth as short range wireless USB. You can use it to connect devices like printers, phones, PDAs, etc. It does not effect the range of your wireless card.

    from lenovo specs for n100 package

    Description: Bluetooth

    left me with the impression that they were using bluetooth in a lan in lieu of some other option like an intelPRO wireless card

    where the reality is that bluetooth isn't usable in that capacity? - can't receive a signal from a regular wifi router, or can, but it's an inferior approach?

    Almost all, but the lowest of low configurations of notebooks will come with a WiFi card.
