    Hello All,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that is probably 3 years old at this point. The 'D' key physically broke off from the key board. Not just the key itself [ I know they just snap back on ]. Rather the springboard assembly which allows the key itself to operate.

Anyway Dell says I have to buy a new keyboard, but if you look closely there are 2 little clips that hold the key assembly to the keyboard. If I can find an entirely new 'D' key, I know I can easily replace it...

So, there's my question, any one know if you can get a single key from any third party manufacturers?

    Many thanks..

If there were any, it would probably cost as much as replacing the whole keyboard for a new one anyway, considering a keyboard for your model is in the cost range of $8 - $12.

    No sir!

Do a search for "Inspiron 6000 keyboard" on eBay, and use the buy now feature for the one that best suits you? I've seen $9.99, but that was just a quick search.

I did not look on ebay, I dont buy anything from there.
I was just saying, if a used keyboard is $12, its probably better to get a new one for $30.
If the item is new and the seller has decent feedback ratings, then yeah go for the keyboard.

If you dont have ebay, discount electronics is a great site.

I am glad you like the mouse

why not just stop by a local computer/laptop shop? some of them keep all kinds of apparently useless extra laptop crap for instances just like this. :) doesn't hurt to call around.
