I heard that the atom has hyperthreading like i7 so woudn't the atom be just like the c2d since the c2d has 2 cores but no ht so the atom is basically the same with a lower clock speed. right.

Absolutely false. By your logic, a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 (has hyperthreading) would be like a C2D with a higher clock speed.

Physical cores ALWAYS beats virtual in performance.

For techie noobs I explain by saying that HT is like your secretary typing on 2 keyboards with both hands. Sure it gets 2 things done, but not as good as 2 secretaries typing on 1 computer each. Also, take into account FSB and cache, those play a bigger role than differences in clock speed.

Virtual cores aren't cores at all. Hyperthreading doesn't allow the processor to perform more work than it can without hyperthreading, it just is often better able take advantage of all the processing power and waste less clock cycles.

c2d will own atom anytime.. the architecture is superior anytime to atom or pentium... HyperThreading is usless in atoms but works quite well in corei7...
