Let's be honest, the C300 is overpriced by a lot, you can get a nice computer for the price of one of their SSDs. They would be great at a lower price but I've been looking for the past few months and they've budged $40, any news on even lower prices?

I don't think there'll be a change until the C400/C400v comes out. The price isn't really that far off from other high-end SSD's.

The price of components should not be judged pass/fail on how other (more) similar components are priced. They should be judged worthy of their price on their own merits (or not, as the case may be).

Having used an Inferno 100GB SandForce based drive for a few months I was kind of pleasantly shocked to see on this forum a $170 price for an item I paid over $400 for.

Not because I wanted to get another one (my usage scenario is a bad mix for the mis-marketed SandForce products), but because it would bring a marked decrease in SSD prices in general.

Unfortunately, that $170 price came and went with no other manufacturer challenging Patriot to bring sane and realistic prices to the genre.

But for my money, that is about what the 100GB SandForce drive should command as a 'fair' price. At that level, the performance offered and the price asked are matched much closer to reality than to what most online tech sites are pimping the SSD's as (the be all and end all of storage subsystems) currently.
