I want to remove the ram I have in my 8600 2x256 ram sticks at 2700 and put it into my 8200 currently at 128MB (2100) ram.

Will the 8200 board just downspeed the RAM to the board speed? Or will the faster RAM be rejected?

It should work just fine, and yes, it will cap out at PC2100, even though the chips are PC2700.

Agreed. The PC2700 will scale down to 2100 speeds when put in the 8200. ;)
