Hi I'd like a higher resolution and have a toshiba tecra A11 15" 1366 x 768 and I'd like to get an wuxga or 1080p screen in it. Is this possible? It has a 40 pin connector. Thanks

Depends on the cable the laptop uses to connect to the display. Likely, you won't be able to use a 1080p or better display on something that originally has a 768p display.

This is an LVDS 40 pin on screen? I have not found the pin out for these cables but I would make a guess that by upgrading the resolution, the GPU is going to take a performance hit.

IMHO, would just buy a 24" Samsung 1080P monitor/TV and use it at the house for double duty for about $199 US.

Did a bit of digging, and it looks like the Tecra A11 was never offered with a FHD display, so your chances of successfully transplanting over a FHD display are probably rather low. I'd suggest saving the money and just use it towards your next computer, as we're seeing many more higher resolution options available on the market now.
