My current laptop model as follow...

    ACER 4530
    AMD Turion X2 RM-70,
    memory 1 gb DDR2,
    160GB HDD, DVD±RW,
    56K Modem, GbE NIC,
    WiFi,
    Camera 14.1? WXGA,
    Bluetooth,
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100M G

Then would like to buy WD5000BEVT and swap the currently hdd @ 160GB. Will my laptop support the size and sata 300?

Yes, your laptop will support this drive.
    The WD5000BEVT is a standard 2.5" 9.5mm thick drive
If price is an issue, you may want to also look at the Hitachi 5K500.B
They are identical in terms of performance, however the Hitachi is slightly more power efficient.

Your system will have no problems reading all 500gb
