I am using a dell xps m1530 with a cakewalk sps 66 firewire audio interface. The dell only has a 4 pin port therefore has no bus power, so I use the external power supply. Is it possible to add a 6 pin port with bus power?

the only feasible way is to use an expresscard firewire card...but you still run into the problem of the expresscard not supplying enough power (believe expresscard specs are 3.3v, but firewire devices can draw up to 20v...)

    so no...

or you could somehow jury rig a usb port for it's 5v 500mah power... but that's hard

Thanks Paperwastage for your input. I Guess it will never be completely portable. But I will investigate the usb idea.
