Yes, it will work, but whether you need it or not depends on your application use. Games won't benefit from more memory.

thank you for your information. so as far as games go I'm good where I'm at? and if I wanted the computer itself to run faster then would the memory upgrade be worth it

Not unless you're using ram intensive applications, like Photoshop with large files or video editing.. maybe application development, etc..

I doubt any serious bottleneck you're running into on your system is ram related.

You can look into replacing the processor if you want to spend the money.

Gaming is more dependent on the GPU and CPU...most of the time, the GPU is not upgradable and most modern CPU are plenty powerful for most games.

I suggest upgrading the HDD to something faster(high density drive or 7200rpm drive) or get an SSD.... It will be more noticeable in day to day operations(faster OS/app bootup/map loading).

4GB of ram is more than enough..unless you use photoshop.. getting asn SSD would be a good option.. certainly faster loading times. If i'm correct , the G60 has 2 hard drive bays so you can use a small SSD as your primary booting drive and a 500GB hard drive which stores your files. Or you could get another indentical hard drive and do RAID 0.. almost reaching SSD speeds.

On the G51 (same motherboard/case as the G60) I'm running windows off of a 64GB SSD, with media files on the 320GB HDD. For about $100 less than getting 8GB RAM, that setup will give a very solid performance boost.

What ssd are you using. I plan on buying one for my g60 but I'm not sure what's the beat bang for my buck. I'll be doing the same as you? Another question do u install games on the ssd or the othe drive?

Mine is a Supertalent drive, which I bought a year ago. I'd take a look at Newegg for what's available now.

Memory upgrades is arguably the easiest upgrade you can make (provided your system can handle it). However, as has already been stated, it would be a useless upgrade unless your really needed it. That said, my WI did increase when I went from 4 to 8 gigs.
