My laptop is toshiba m55-s135 I am wondering if its possible for me to upgrade my cpu. I am confuse since cpu-z have shown that my motherboard is i915GMS/i910GML. I checked in CNET specs and toshiba website spec of my latop both says 910GML only. I've known that 910GML chipset only supports celeron and 915GMS supports pentium M. Is the cpu-z shown not right or maybe other sites do not want to show that you can upgrade the cpu. Is there any chance for me to upgrade still?
thanks

Download Everest and find out if you have a 915. CPU-Z doesn't always give a certain answer.Everest will give you lots of details, and it should also be correct.
I assume you have a Celeron M at the moment, and you want to upgrade to a Pentium M. Well, if the motherbaord is based on a 915 chipset, then there is no reason why you cannot, as the basic requirements are there. However, you should make sure if your model was initially sold with a Pentium M, as that will mean it has a sutible cooling system, and also if the BIOS can support it. If your BIOS can support it, then it is simply a matter of chnaging the old processort for new. Hope this helps. -

Zero answered your question - if you have an Intel 915 chipset, then you can put in a Pentium M. The Toshiba Satellite M55 was in fact offered with a Pentium M. You won't have to worry about cooling, because the PM runs cooler than the Celeron M.
One question though: why upgrade? The Celeron M is not a bad CPU; it is basically an older Pentium M without the SpeedStep technology and half the L2 cache. I doubt you are going to notice much of a difference between it and the Pentium performance-wise. -
Im gonna try download everest, after defragment as Im currently using desktop.
The celeron is actually good laptop but problem is heat issue and battery drain for me. specification of the laptop and the lseries of pentium M are able to run around at least 3 -4 hours. Seemed my max hour I could run was about 1 1/2 hour about same time of a movie. Im not sure about now it should be less.
Theres this heat issue also somewhat the bottom of laptop is pretty hot so hopefully the pentium m would do the job.
I travel often with the laptop so hoping I could get more battery life out of it. And true, I don't think performance won't do any better unless I have to get a 2ghz dothan one hehe. -
Before you upgrade, you should check if your battery is not the problem. If you have had the notebook for 2 or more years, often the problem is the battery, and its wear. The Celeron still has good battery life, but tat is when it has a decent battery, and the rest of the system doesn't use the battery too much.
can my laptop upgrade :celeron to M
