    Hi,

I've got a HP laptop (DV9340 to be precise). I've had it for around 2 years now (and looking to get a new one soon). It's always been quite hot but recently it's become extremely hot.

I was recommended using SpeedFan to check the temp but I don't know what the stats mean.

Here's a couple of screenshots I took of the stats. Is my GPU really 76C? That seems a bit too hot??

    Thanks

ps - if anyone else has this HP model have you ever experienced that the touch buttons above the keyboard make uncontrollable beeping noises? It's SO irritating and HP support could even solve it for me (I'm out of warranty too  )

Those temps are quite high.. if you aren't running any programs on your computer.

How hot is the air that comes out of the vents on the side/bottom of your computer?

you need to check the fan and exhaust vent for dust, you can clean them with a can of air duster.

Well I can't wear shorts and have this on my lap as it burns! I'll try giving it a bit of a clean (but I have done so in the past - never really made a difference). This laptop has put me off HP for life.

    Thanks

Use a tea tray on your lap to protect your legs and you inheritance :D , also it will stop your cloths blocking the air intakes on the bottom of the laptop.

update your GPU driver. sounds like you don't have dynamic downclocking.

thanks whizzo will try that tonight.

If that doesn't work then I'll through it out the window! I need a new one - I almost bought the Sony Vaio CS series until someone kindly pointed out on this forum that it has fan issues.

Apparently Sony are announcing something today - please be new laptops LOL
