im tight on money at the moment but a friend of mine has offered me his laptop half price and says i should be able to enjoy hd movies on it as soon as i upgrade the optical drive, which im sure i could do as i have done it before on very old laptops, the laptop is a fujitsu siemens 3910
this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5071199/Trail/searchtext>FUJITSU.htm
ive been told you need a 18 inch screen to enjoy full hd, and this has 18 inches and i would be able to save up extra for a blu ray drive, so is it plausible? would i be able to enjoy full hd if i upgrade to blu ray on this? and then would i need some special programme to play hd?
thanks in advance for any help

Haha, screen size has nothing to do with HD.
It's the resolution that matters, and Full HD is defined as 1920x1080. The resolution of that laptop is 1680x945, so no, it cannot do Full HD. However, it can do 720p HD. -
would it be worth it or should i just save for a laptop with better resolution

your better off saving ur money..The screen resolution isn't good ....If u can find a refurbished advent 6555Gx , u could play full HD movies and max most games but u would need an external monitor to see full HD movies...

For example 1080p. Unfortunately you would only notice the improved resolution on a large (32+) TV screen. That's why most TV screens under that size, don't come in 1080p resolution. It would be wasted.
Still, marketing is a powerful tool, and I suspect that in the near future, we will begin to see more TV's below 32" with 1080p screens. -

Though it may not be fully sanctioned by some standards board, Full HD means 1920x1080. No one in the industry would be confused about what you meant if you asked for "Full HD" resolution. -
+1
High definition-> 720p
When people currently refer to Full HD, they are referring to 1080p or 1080i. -

I wouldn't be so welcoming to such terms as Complete High-Definition and ultra-high definition video either.
...and High definition capable?! Now, that takes the cake.
can this laptop play full hd?
