StoryR, good link, but if did you actually bother to read it first before telling people about it? If so, you would've realized that saying "highly doubt it" is wrong.

Right from your link, proving yourself wrong...

Just posting a link doesn't help anyone. Next time make sure you know what you're talking about.

If the vostro 1500 comes with an 8600GT (which it does) then you will be able to upgrade to it from the 8400GS.

Dells in this case are one of the few machines that can be upgraded to other cards given that they are available for that current machine.

adinu, I think you're being way too hard on StoryR. At least he bothered to look at the stickies.

I know, but I've seen that link get thrown around so many times. It bothers me that people just give that link and shoot down the possibility of upgrading at the first sign of an "can I upgrade my gpu" thread without bothering to acually see if the OP does have a possibility or not.

Apologises if I was too harsh, but just giving that link w/o bothering to read the posters question is not the right way to go about it.

    I made an assumption.
I could care less if a Dell is upgradeable as I don't own one. I pointed him in the right direction and regardless of what I said I still did more than most people would, I gave him a reply that would actually help instead of telling him to read the stickies in some condescending manner.
I never read the thread but copied the link to it and pasted it here. My apologies.

You need to contact dell and see if they'll sell you one.

Either Dell, or look on ebay for Inspiron 1520/Vostro 1500 8600GT gpus.
