i can't really tell which processor would be better:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P7450 (2.13GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
    2010 Intel®Core™ i3 - 330M

and how much better is the 4500mhd over the gma 950? is it worth getting the 4500?

i know the AGN is better, but by how much?

    Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card
    IntelJWiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card

    thanks for your help :)

    Which notebook has the GMA950?

If you get the p7450 then I bet you will have the 4500mhd.
If you get the i3, you will probably get the intel HD graphics (better than 4500mhd).

If you get a netbook with an atom CPU, you get the gma 950.

The 4500MHD is probably twice as good as the GMA950, no joke, the 950 sucks. That's close to being the worst GPU on the market available in notebooks these days...

The main issue is how much more does the Core i3 notebook cost? And do you feel that paying the price premium is worth it for what you are going to be using it for?

you are half way right i think, because this is the computer i am looking at, it has i3 with 950:
    http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...dhs/inspiron_14_dndoun2?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

on that page it says :
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 integrated graphics

but when i click "Continue Personalizing", the laptop features a :
    Intel® HD Graphics

so what's the deal here? i would go for this laptop, as i am trying to find the best bang for the buck 14" laptop for $600

No i3 notebook currently manufactured is paired with a GMA950. If it's integrated graphics it will be the GMA HD that is integrated onto the i3 processor die. GMA HD will give similar performance to an integrated ATI HD4200 if I'm not mistaken, so it's not really that bad for integrated.

Yep, when you choose the i3, you get the Intel® HD Graphics
(better intel GPU than the 4500mhd).

The gma 950 must be a mistake on the page.

i3 system is definitely worth a premium over C2D for the following reasons:
    - 5700MHD, which can bench just under 2k in 3dmark06, or twice faster than 4500MHD
    - PM55 chipset with pci-e 2.0 compliance
    - 32nm CPU with considerably more performance per cycle, at lower power consumption.

sounds great, i'm going to check with dell customer service to see if that gma 950 on the first page is really an error, and go with this thing. thanks!

the customer service said it IS the gma 950, but it's better than 4500mhd.
    i dont understand...

They don't know what they're talking about.

Either they're NOT referring to the GMA950 or they simply have no idea that the GMA4500HD is better than the GMA950.

As for the CI3 vs. C2d, Battery life and cost are the only things to concern with. In every other way the CI3 will likely win.

A newer GMA950 better than a 4500? Are they are on crack?!

The Core I3 comes with an integrated video card that outperforms the 4500. In terms of Clarkdale based chips, one place made this claim...

"In 3DMark 06, the Clarkdale graphics core managed to score 1602 points, compared to the 1181 points received by Intel's current integrated graphics product, the GMA X4500HD, or the 2014 points received by NVIDIA's current 9400 IGP."

It's not a bad processor for graphics. There is no way a 950 is going to come anywhere near that.

Intel HD covers anything newer than the 950 I think. It's kind of a "family" type thing, not a specific part. Kind of like saying Core 2 Duo, it covers many parts and variations.

It will be an HD, not a 950. The only 950 is on 945 chipsets, which doesn't support the Core I series.

The Core i3 will be much better than the Core 2 Duo - even the lower Core i3s outperform the upper-class Core 2 Duos, and the graphics chipset of the Core i_ processors greatly outperform the already quite-capable 4500MHD. I think the greater question is whether it is worth the price premium for your uses.

Dell really needs to start employing some people who know what they are talking about. I think there are probably a lot of people who are mis-led by the Dell representatives...

    Woot?!

The intel GMA 950 is crap (Or worse).
How can he say that all Intel IGPs today are called Intel HD Graphics?
Bet they will start recommending Intel Atom N270 over N450 too. xD

    Hi there!
Same thing happened to me too.
    this page claims http://www.dell.com/content/topics/...dhs/inspiron_14_dndoun2?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
so I said ! core i3 family comes with intel gma hd NOT gma 950!

So i said why dont i talk to tech support.
Started chatting with him and he claimed
I tryed to explain but he continued claiming that gma 950 is new and very good but its different to HD .
Anyone knows or has the new inspiron 1464 models please help cause if have to make a decision asap.
