    Hey everyone,

Last year I bought a Hp dv8t and a ocz vertex 30gb ssd to use as a boot drive. Performance wise, everything seems to be fine. However, windows and every other program has everything defaulted to my c: which is the ssd boot drive. Ive tried to use cleaners and manually remove programs, but this little 30gb drive keep filling up. Is there anyway I can keep this from happening? I want to ONLY have my os on the ssd and use my 2nd hd for everything else. any ideas?

When installing programs, don't default the C drive. Select the other drive. Also change downloads/torrents to your other drive.

done that. Unfortunately, some programs don't give you install path options.

why I keep on saying, don't use small SSD as the system drive. The whole Windows eco system expects there to be only one big C:\ and you simply don't know what you are going to meet down the road.

    System Properties>Advanced>Envrionment Variables
Then add an entry for "Program Files" and point it to a location other than you SSD.

What programs? I haven't yet had a game/program that cannot change to another path to install to.

You can disable PageFile, that will save you a amount of GB as your big as your RAM's size.

You can also clear this folder:
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

It contains the Windows Update files, all the installed updates. Only do this if you are sure you won't uninstall any update. I've always clean this folder.

You can also type %temp% in search box and clear this..

Hope this helps, let me know if there is something..

You may also wish to consider disabling System Restore, which makes automatic backups of your system and takes up considerable disk space.

You can do so at: Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> System --> System Protection.

    Cheers!
