    check hard drive speed?

    Really dumb ar*e question, but can't seem to find the answer, is there a way I can check my hard drive speed (i.e. the rpm?)

    You can right-click your hard drive in Windows Explorer and go to the Hardware tab. Jot down your hard drive manufacture and the following model number. Then look the drive up on Google. That should do it.

    You can also use a program that displays you hardware information in-depth. EVEREST is a good choice: LINK

    Some 5400 rpm drives feel slower than some of the fastest 4200 rpm drives. Further, some of the fastest 5400 drives perform comparably to slow 7200...
    Therefore, run HDTune and compare your results with other people, this is the best way to find out if you have a good HDD
