    how do u check what ur laptop monitor make is?
    when i go under device manager>monitor>details tab
    all i get is generic PnP monitor =\

    You want to right click on the Generic PnP Monitor and get the details tab up to display the 'Device Instance ID'. That will tell you.

    oh. i have a device instance path? it says
    display\cmo1520\5&1e6beb3b&0&UID272
    i don't really understand haha. i tried googling parts of it...no luck

    Mine says LP and a bunch of letters and numbers. So I don't know what mine is either. Guess I'll have to google when I get the chance.

    The bolded part indictes the manufacturer(CMO - Chi Mei Optronics) and the 1520 is just the model number assigned to the panel.

    Is it LPL followed by a bunch of numbers. If that is the case then the panel comes from LG Phillips.
