There seem to be a lot of replacement battery vendors. Any recommendations for choosing one? There doesn't seem to be a great way to figure out their reputation.

Example: the best rated amazon battery, according to users comments, seems to have half the charge life that I expect.

The prices here (in Canada) seem quite a bit higher and I'd like to consider picking up a new battery when I'm in the US in a week or two.

I've had the computer for over 5 years. Even so, it still seems like a reasonable notebook: worth reviving with a new battery.

I'd strongly suggest obtaining a genuine Lenovo battery and not a knock-off one.

NewEgg - at least here in the U.S. - often has Lenovo's "refurbished" batteries on sale and every single one I've bought had zero cycles on it and behaved like brand new.

Personally, I'd buy a used genuine battery rather than a new third-party one, but that's me.

    Happy shopping.

As ajkula66 has pointed out, it is always best to buy OEM products. I got my 8 cell X61t battery for like 60 dollars on Ebay new. There are some on Ebay right now for like 70. They are well worth it.

Thanks for the pointer. The one I see includes a picture of the box. That shows a manufacturing date of 2007. Is it likely to be any good now?

I'd say "yes", as long as you don't expect it to last for another five years...

Most of the batteries in my ThinkPads are from 2007/8 and are still in excellent shape. They are all Panasonics, though. Sony/Sanyo don't last as long but should give you a couple of years unless you're outright unlucky.

Unfortunately the 8 cell to my knowledge was never made by Panasonic, and was made by Sanyo. That being said, older ThinkPad batteries, even cruddy ones made by Sanyo, tended to last longer. My T60 with a Panasonic 6 cell I sold awhile back still holds a 60% charge...consider when the T60 came out.

hey guys I have the 8 cell and love my 1450 x 1050 tablet. I don't use it much for travel anymore just to browse on while watching tv. Where can I buy the lighter 4 cell batteries.
