hi,
I have decided to upgrade the GTX 675M on my P150EM to 980m or 970m, using prema bios mod
here is my laptop's current spec:
I'm still unsure about a couple of things, though:
- CPU i7 3630QM
- 7200 rpm hdd on master slot
- 8GB DDR3
- 180W power supply
thanks in advance!
- will the 180W power supply be enough for 980m or 970m? I don't plan to overclock
- my games are Blade and Soul,Starcraft 2, Guild wars 2, and maybe Witcher 3, Tomb Raider, and Overwatch when it comes out. I will be only playing them on 1080p on my measly 15" laptop screen. will 980m be overkill? can 970m do the job? I'm happy enough to run Witcher on high, not ultra.

If you run all on stock 180w should be okay!
But please, throw in a SSD! -

970M can run the Witcher 3 at 40~50 fps on high 1080p hairworks off. But if you can, I think it's better to get the 980M.

2. 970M will do the job.. It can also be overclocked quite a bit so you'll be fine... -
Yeah, get a 230W - 240W power supply especially if you go for 980m.

Or perhaps wait for Pascal due out in a few months. 675M ought to stretch until then and then you get double the performance of a 970M for your money...
Just another option

I've heard differently if I wanted to play witcher series on a Sagar 17" I need to have a 980M others have told me? So if the 970M is up to par then and I don't have to shell out the extra for the 980M then?

I've got an Nvidia 970m and without really trying have got it overclocked 200 on both the core and memory. Has been game stable in everything I've played (Wolfenstein New Order, Mad Max, Just Cause 3, Star Wars Battlefront, etc). Really happy with the performance it gives, but that aside if your buying new depending on availability and price buy the 980m for the extra performance it will give.
clevo P150EM upgrade to GTX 980m or 970m
