Well, Core 2 Duo has taken the lead by far on multiple-core processors (for now). A Core 2 Duo would be your safest bet if you want to game or multitask.

I think a Core Duo is an overkill for most people. I would save some money and go with a Pentium Dual Core, or AMD Turion X2, and make uprgrades elsewhere. A more powerful GPU, or more RAM would be a better upgrade.

The 2060 is I would guess a slower than TL-50, it is definitely slower than core duo ½ the L2 1MB vs 2MB, TL-50 has ½ the L2 of all other TL's. The TL-52 1.6Ghz is faster than 2060 and same speed maybe little faster than core duo, core 2 duo faster than everything, the C2D and TL's are 64 bit the others are 32.
I would be careful with 2060 it is 3 generations back technology. I would only buy it on a laptop for around $400, and then I would not even buy it. I would go TL-50 or core duo.
