My plug adapter burned out. When I plug it into the wall, the lights don't even turn on.

I'm looking for a replacement at a low price.

I very well know that google works tilleroftheearth. However if you read the reviews there are tons of issues with all the "compatible" adapters. The cheap one doens't work according to a review, some doesn't reach good performance, etc thats why I'm asking which adapter is best to where I can get full performance as well as a possible slight overlock.

for ex, this one on amazon - http://www.amazon.com/G53sx-dh71-G53sx-nh71-G72gx-rbbx05-G73jh-rbbx05-G74sx-dh73-3d/dp/B004BHCKBK/ref=sr_1_1?&ie=UTF8&qid=1434763111&sr=8-1&keywords=g73jh-a1 plug adapter&pebp=1434763238861&perid=1G4T5Q72XD3CS5C89AX8

Its 150 watts. My original adapter doesn't even say how many watts it is. I can't seem to find the origonal anywhere so a link would help.

edit - I probably can't find the original because it was defective. I'm actually surprised mine's lastest this long. Must of had one of the good ones.

Anyway, my goal is to find a compatible one that has the same watts as the original (currently unknown watt) that can get me the same performance as before with room to overclock a little bit (ex from 700mhz to 750 and from 1000 to 1050). I'm hoping someone on the forums have tried and tested for performance using benchmarks or something.

Perhaps this topic would be better in the asus section of the forums? If a mod can move it (if applicable).

Again, If possible, I'd like to hear anyone who got a replacement how the adapter worked out for you, how long it lastest, etc.

The original adapter is 150 W as well, make sure the tip works. If you don't mind something humongous, you could always look for a Targus APA05, it has 3 tips, one fo those works on the Jh.

Hey thanks tijo. I found it on ebay. I can probably get it by the end of the week. I dont mind it being big. Have you tried overclocking with it (I'm assuming you did with Chastity's vbios)? Does it get as hot as the original adapter? To prevent it from burning out, maybe I should use a fan or something.

The 180W Targus adapter will run cooler actually.

Cool. I'll grab that one today and it's cheap on ebay :)

Thanks for your help. One last question if you remember. How much did you Oc the gpu by (5870m)? Sometimes I just oc from 700/100 to 750/1050 and sometimes 705/1100

That is something you'll have to test around, my GPU memory didn't like being overclocked, the core clock I could push rather high, but every GPU is different.

    Hello. Bringing this topic back.

The 180w Targus adaptor has been good to me, but these 3 connectors have not been. - http://www.ebay.com/itm/TARGUS-UNIV...5US-PA-1181-08-3-CONNECTING-TIP-/360396335826

At first, I had no problem, but a few months later, its like the pieces don't fit the laptop. I have to keep twisting and turning it into the laptop to get power (its not a short either). And it always disconnects while I'm gaming dropping my fps. I honestly don't understand how this can happen. Ware and tear? Did it shrink?

More details - When I plug it into the laptop (wire facing towards me), I have to push it up from the bottom for it to connect. When I put it in wire face up it seems to be fine but physics don't allow it to stay plugged in at that angle. Face back is best when I'm using an external keyboard (which I normally never do while gaming, I use the laptop keyboard) since I use the weight from the wires to support it.

Anyway, If possible I need a solution or a link where I can a different piece? Not sure whats it called.

Get a genuine AC adapter if possible. Being Asus, I know it is a pain in the rear end.
