i have an m1730 with the computrace feature in the bios, i'm trying to learn more about it because i want to get theft recovery for it....

i don't want the hard-drive based recovery software, so can theft recovery be added to my machine by enabling the feature in the bios and ordering the service from computrace ?

I have used computrace, but I never had a feature in my Bios.
If you have a license to computrace, you can track your system all over the world, by sending force pinging back and forth to the computrace server. The software works great.
Please note that once you install computrace, make sure that you dont plan to sell the laptop, cause it will be reported as stolen the second the buyer gets it, unless you contact computrace.

I think the feature tool in your Bios is only used to configure setting to computrace.
computrace is much too large of a file to be integrated into the system bios.
