so here i am , i m trying to buy a freeagent go external 2.5 hdd because I saw some hot deals on ebay lately :)

but the problem is that I am so confused with their models. When i google the keyword 'freeagent go' i got both products shown up:

    here is the google result:
    http://images.google.ca/images?q=freeagent go
i just dont know anymore. I typed in the keyword on youtube and ebay, the same result i got.

now can anyone tell me the difference? i know they look different physically and i want the slimmer one. how do i know the product i will buy on the online auction site is the slimmer one and not the chubby one? What should i do if the seller has those little words as remark written that the image is inaccurate and the product will differ from images shown?
thats quite a load of bs, please save my soul!!!!!

The left one is the 3.5" model, and the one you want would be the on on the right. Even if you were to buy it off eBay, sellers will usually specifically state which form factor it is. This seems to be a newer model as the ones I've seen used to be black and yellow.

EDIT: Better yet, here they are on newegg.

The one on the right is the 2.5" model and likely powered only through TWO USB ports when 'on the move'. While the 3.5" is powered by the mains with an adaptor.

To clear up any confusion, it should rarely ever need to be connected to an extra USB port for power consumption. This is only if there is not enough power drawing from one USB port. This should be true for all external 2.5" drives and caddys.

pardon me, but can anyone, please, tell me when the extra USB power cable will be used?
