I think all they're doing is turning the fan on to maximum at a lower temperature than before, so if your dv1000 is overheating with the fan at maximum, this probably won't help much, except maybe to slow the rise.

    you're exactly right ^^^.

Also you can lower the fan speed to keep your notebook quite or to increase battery life.

    *update*

thanks to TevashSzat, we have the ACPI datasheet here:
    http://www.acpi.info/spec30b.htm

This is a very usefull file, if anyone is doing the same registry mod please read that.

right click on "HP____" and go to new>key.
    this time name the key"8510x"

now right click on "8510x" and go new>key.
this time name the key "00010000".

    it should look like this:

Now left click on "00010000". then right click on the right empty space and go new>binary value.
    it should look like this:

    Name the new value "00000000".
so that it looks like this:

For the next step, I need you to upload a screenshot of what your registry looks like know.
I will continue the guide after you do that ^^.

yes, there is a lot of data.

that is why I suggest using the shift key.

click at the start of the file. scroll down to the bottom. hold the shif key and click at the end of the file.

now all the data should be highlighted. right click and copy.

now click on "00010000", right click on the "00000000" binary value and choose modify binary data. right click and paste!

the 00000000 binary value should be almost empty untill you paste in the new data (that you just copied).
